![]() Wilton is an authentic lower James River plantation house that was built between 1750 - 1753 by William Randolph III. Wilton was the centerpiece of a 2,000 acre tobacco plantation and home to the Randolph family for more than a century. Today, this historic house museum is on the National Register of Historic Places, is a Virginia Historic Landmark, and is fully accredited by the American Association of Museums. We offer a variety of community programming, such as SOL- based school tours and outreach programs; programs for home schooled children; adult seminars and tours; an annual Teacher's Institute; and a wide variety of summer programming for children. We have the ability to host luncheons on site and can offer a wide variety of special programming, lectures, and tours that are tailored to your group's needs. ADULT GROUP TOURS Group Rates, Tours and Boxed Lunches, and Special Interest Programs are available for groups of 10 or more Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 am . until 3:30 p.m. Reservations are required, and must be made at least two-weeks in advance.

· Regular Admission: $10.00
· Seniors/AAA/Students: $8.00 · Adult Group Tours of 10 or more: $6.00 · Adult Special Interest Group Tours: $7.00 · Student Group Tours: $2.50-$5.00 · Children 6 and under: Free GIRL SCOUT TOURS As part of the tour, scouts will investigate the contents of a fresh laundry basket, complete with all the latest in colonial fashion for children. The tour alone is geared to contain elements that meet the criteria of various Petals, Try-It's, Badge, and IPP's; a list will be provided. In addition to the house tour, the separate activities program is designed so that your girls will complete all activities required for their Petal, Try-It, Badge or IPP. At the conclusion of the visit, scouts will enjoy a gingerbread cookie, a favorite with colonial children, and take home a Wilton House Museum Patch.
Students are introduced to life in colonial Virginia at Richmond 's own plantation home, Wilton . Overlooking the James River , this ten-room house is a stunning artifact of eighteenth-century architecture. Authentically costumed museum guides use the inquiry method to share the social history of William Randolph III and his family, the original occupants of the house. Furnished according to an 1815 survey, the house showcases decorative arts, fashions, and the lifestyles that were part of a 2,000-acre tobacco plantation. Students will investigate the contents of a fresh laundry basket, complete with all the latest in colonial fashion for children. Two students will have the opportunity to model the clothing and have their picture taken with our instant camera. At the conclusion of the visit, students enjoy a gingerbread cookie, a favorite with colonial children, and take home a souvenir paper tri-corn hat.
