Richmond: Cary Street Road Corridor

Friday this shuttle/walking tour extends along the fashionable Cary Street Road corridor from South Wilton Road to West Hillcrest Avenue. Guests will be treated to four and a half acres of park-like gardens on West Hillcrest Avenue. The restoration of this extraordinary property began in 1991. Two of the other beautifully maintained gardens on tour were designed by noted landscape architect Charles F. Gillette. Sophisticated design and art, both contemporary and antique are found in the homes which are open. The gardens at Wilton House Museum are included on the tour ticket. They were designed in 1935 by Arthur A. Schurcliff, the landscape architect for the Garden Club of Virginia and were funded with proceeds from Historic Garden Week. Admission to the museum is $10 with HGW ticket. Admission to the museum is included with the purchase of a pre-ordered lunch. Friday’s tour also includes the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts garden and permanent collections and the gardens at Tuckahoe Plantation, the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson (tours of the house $10 with HGW ticket).

Shuttle service will be provided to all properties on the Cary Street Road Tour, with the exception of Tuckahoe Plantation.
